Goal Type:

Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

I ran cross country and track at Orem High in Orem, Utah during all three of the years I attended high school. I don't really have any great accomplishments but I'm probably in the best shape of my life right now so hopefully I'll have some soon!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to break three hours in a marathon by the end of 2009, and I want to break 36 minutes in a 10k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm planning to serve an LDS mission starting next spring, so I will be taking a two year break from running. Right now my main goal is to break three hours in a marathon before I leave to serve that mission!

Personal:

I just graduated from high school and I will be attending BYU in the fall! I am 18 and planning to serve an LDS mission in starting next May. I have 5 sisters and 3 brothers, only one of which is a runner. (my oldest brother)

Welcome to the blog. 4:30 is a great mile time. Keep up the good work.

Ditto what Walter said. Is that a picture of your baby sister?

From Steve on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 14:22:59

Whatever, Adam. Of course you have accomplishments. Adam ran under 40:00 and placed 24th at the Freedom Run (Provo 10K) last year (on a hilly course). Plus other high school accomplishments.

Today I ran a one mile warm up, then a 800 meter time trial, which I got a 2:18, then a 2.5 mile cool down. I was happy with 2:18 because my knee has been bothering me the last couple weeks and I wasn't wearing spikes, so I thought it was a good time overall.

I'm a little late, but welcome to the blog! A 2:18 is SOLID for a time-trial. Great job!

Today I just ran five miles. It only took me 35 minutes, so I was running pretty fast. Tomorrow I'm planning to do a fartlek workout, but I'll see how I feel.

I'm disappointed in myself because I was wimpy today. I only ran 5 miles easy and I was planning to do a fartlek workout. This week has been finals so I haven't been able to get to bed before 11 all week, so I've been too tired to do really hard runs.

Today I was really wimpy and didn't run at all. It's been hard lately to get out because track is over and I have to run by myself, so it's hard to stay motivated.

Today I am so tired but I did a really hard workout. I did 7 miles in about 45 minutes, so I was going pretty fast. I feel like my body is finally getting back in shape after my injury so I can run normally again. Finals ended today so now I can get more sleep and work a lot harder!

That's my buddance. Keep up the running so you will finish 10 minutes ahead of me instead of 5 on July 4. Or you can ride the bus up here and run with me.

Today I did a 7 mile run at normal pace with a small 5 minute fartlek in the middle. I felt really good and I'm really looking forward to Wasatch Back next week!!!!

I know I've been slacking lately, I'm going to try to update this everyday for the rest of the summer! Today I did the Wasatch Back Relay!! It was fun and I felt really good running it so I'm excited to run the 10k on July 4th! I think I'm finally getting back into cross country shape which makes me very happy! :)

Today I decided to take the day off because I am still really sore from Wasatch Back, but I am going to start running again tomorrow! I'm going to run with Orem's cross country team during the summer and I know that will get me into really good shape and give me people to run with that can push me! And it will be a good experience!

Today I ran with the cross country team. We just did five miles easy to start the season. My legs were still pretty sore and my body is tired as well, but I'm feeling better everyday so I should be back to normal by the end of the week. The Wasatch Back gave me a lot of confidence and I am really looking forward to the 10k next week now! I'm in pretty good shape so I should run a good race!

Today I did a trail run up the canyon. There was a lot of uphill and I felt pretty tired during it. I'm working 51 hours this week which means I'm on my feet pretty much all day and that might be a reason why, but I'm not going to take a break!

Today I just did 6 miles easy up the canyon. There was one major hill but the rest was either flat or downhill. I'm really tired because I work all day every day, but I'm still running my hardest!

Today I am so thankful for the day of rest I get! I worked 50 hours this week so I am really tired. But I'm looking forward to this week of running so I'll let you know how it goes. By the way, I don't know if anyone else reads this other than Steve, but I'm just assuming he is the only one, but if not I would be interested to know if someone else reads this!

I don't know how many read mine, but probably a few here and there. Usually the more often you blog, the more people will read it. And also people usually read race reports and then get to know you too. Do you have an idea for which marathon you will run? They have one in Logan that is pretty popular. It's in September. I can bring you up there if you want. Otherwise, the only other Saturday one that is sort of close is in Nevada in November. (St. George registration is already closed.)

P.S. The Logan one is called Top of Utah. Just google it.

Today I did a 7 mile trail run! The beginning was straight uphill for the first mile, and that BURNED my quads really bad, but I didn't walk at all! I'm hoping that will help me for the last hill on the 10k this Saturday! The rest of the run was just flat or downhill, but the first mile made the whole run hard! But I feel really good about hills now!
